Planning · The build period

Running a programme during the build

Construction on this scale is visible. This page covers what that actually means for a group arriving in 2026 or early 2027 — which areas are affected, what we do about it, and what to tell your delegates.

The proportionate view

The resort strips where programmes actually spend their time are not building sites. What is affected is some of the road network between them and, at times, the airport. That is an inconvenience to plan around rather than a reason to choose a different island.

How we plan around it

  1. Property selection first. We know which properties currently sit near active works and which do not, and that informs the shortlist before anything else.
  2. Transfer routing and timing. Buffers added where works affect a corridor, and routes reviewed close to travel rather than set months ahead.
  3. Outdoor event siting. Away from any works within audible range, checked on site.
  4. Airport buffers. Longer than normal for departures, with coordinators escorting groups through.
  5. Re-check before arrival. Construction moves. We verify the position at D-30 and again at D-7 rather than relying on what was true when we quoted.

What to tell delegates

A group that has been told the island is being rebuilt for a summit finds construction interesting. A group that has not been told finds it annoying. The information is identical; the framing is what differs.

The advantages of this window

Pricing

Pre-summit rates

The market has not yet repriced for what the island will be. That gap is the single strongest argument for booking now.

Availability

Still comfortable

Blocks that will be committed around the summit have not yet squeezed the surrounding months.

Access

Improving month by month

More flights, more routes, better roads. For international groups this is the change that matters most.

Story

A destination on the way up

Useful in an internal business case, and true rather than promotional.

Common questions

None

Will our delegates notice the construction?

Some of it, in transit. The resort areas themselves are not construction zones. Told in advance, groups find it a point of interest; told nothing, they find it a complaint.

Are transfer times longer than normal?

On some routes, sometimes. We build buffers in and review routing close to travel rather than months ahead, because the works move.

Should we choose a resort further from the works?

That is exactly what property selection accounts for. It is one of several criteria rather than the only one — a property away from works but wrong for your headcount is not an improvement.

Is anything closed because of the construction?

Nothing that would affect a normal corporate programme as at August 2026. We verify current conditions at quote stage and again close to travel.
