Visa-free entry, and the conditions attached

The visa exemption is the strongest single argument for holding a multinational programme on this island. It is also the thing most likely to be summarised inaccurately on a website, so this page states what we know, what conditions apply, and what we verify for you before you commit.

How the exemption works

What this removes from your planning

No invitation letters. No consular appointments across several countries. No delegate who cannot travel because their application was slow. For a group holding six or seven nationalities, that is a workstream and a genuine risk removed.

What we verify before you commit

Immigration policy is not static and the conditions matter. Rather than asking you to trust a page, we do the following at quote stage:

  1. Confirm the current position for each delegate nationality on your list.
  2. Confirm that the exemption covers your specific routing, including any transit point.
  3. Flag any delegate whose nationality or routing needs separate treatment.
  4. Confirm passport validity requirements and advise the margin delegates should hold.
  5. Provide a written briefing note you can send to delegates with their invitation.
Our position on giving immigration advice

We are a ground operator, not an immigration adviser. What we provide is verified current information and a written note for your delegates. For unusual cases — dual nationality, previous refusals, travel documents other than a standard passport — we will tell you to take proper advice rather than guess on your behalf.

Practical points for a group

QuestionPosition
Passport validityHold a comfortable margin beyond the travel dates; we advise the current requirement at quote stage
Return or onward ticketShould be held; carriers may ask at check-in
Extending on the islandWithin the exemption period, generally possible
Travelling to the mainland afterDifferent position entirely — usually needs a visa, arranged in advance
Arriving via another Vietnamese airportCovered, but the routing matters; we confirm it
Delegates joining lateSame position, but tell us — late joiners are where errors happen

What to tell delegates, and when

  1. At invitation: that no visa is needed for the island, that this depends on routing, and that anyone planning to extend onto the mainland must say so now.
  2. At sixty days: passport details collected, validity checked.
  3. At fourteen days: the written briefing note issued with the rooming list — routing, what to carry, what to expect at immigration.
  4. On arrival: our coordinators meet delegates airside-adjacent and handle anything unexpected at the immigration counter.
Common questions

None

Is the exemption guaranteed to still apply when we travel?

No policy is guaranteed. That is precisely why we verify it at quote stage and again before travel rather than treating it as settled. If it changed, we would tell you immediately and help restructure — but we would not have you discover it at an airport.

What if a delegate wants to visit Ho Chi Minh City after the programme?

That falls outside the island exemption and generally requires a visa, arranged in advance. Delegates need to know this at invitation stage, because arranging it from Phu Quoc after arrival is difficult.

Does the exemption cover business activity, or only tourism?

Conference attendance and corporate events are normally accommodated, but the purpose of entry and how it is declared matters. For programmes involving signed contracts, paid work or media production we advise taking proper immigration advice rather than relying on the general exemption.

Do you handle visas for delegates who need them anyway?

We are not an immigration agent, but we will provide the supporting documentation a delegate needs — invitation, programme, accommodation confirmation — and point you to people who do this properly.
